Join us in beautiful Sherwood to experience Shinrin-yoku , the opportunity to bath in the atmosphere of the forest, taking it in through your five senses of sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste
Who
we are
I’m Jo Aylwin, a Nottingham resident and a qualified Forest Bathing Guide with the Forest Bathing Institute. My journey into guiding was born from a deep love of nature and a desire to share its healing power with others.
Explore what we offer
· A Forest Bathing/Shinrin-Yoku session lead by a qualified Forest Bathing + Guide*
· A gentle walk in the on the Heath (maximum of 1 mile) taking 2 – 3 hrs
· There will be times of standing, sitting, and perhaps lying down
· During the walk you will be invited to connect to the natural environment using your five senses: sight, sound, smell, touch and taste (but you will not be asked to lick a tree!)
· It is a time to slow down, deepen your breath and be away from the stresses and strains of everyday life
· Scientific studies have shown benefits to include:
o Improves concentration and memory
o Lifts depression
o Improves pain thresholds
o Improves energy
o Boosts the immune system with an increase in the count of the body's natural killer (NK) cells
o Increases anti-cancer protein production
o Can help you to lose weight
Sessions are open to adults and people aged 16 – 18 if accompanied by a participating adult. The ground is uneven and is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Only assistant dogs are permitted.
All sessions are at Sherwood Heath, (What3words - ///yelled.whisk.cornering) off the A616 next to Ollerton Roundabout. Free parking. Meet inside the main access gate by 9.45am.
